Learn about the process of using wood ashes as a material to formulate and enhance glazes for ceramic pottery or sculpture. Students will bring their own stoneware or porcelain bisque ware which we will glaze for a cone 10 firing in the GoggleWorks gas kiln. We will discuss glaze chemistry along with the history of wood ash glazes and why contemporary artists are still using this material for its interesting and varied effects.
